Henry Cavill reveals official images from Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’

Henry Cavill releases official images from Netflix’s upcoming ‘The Witcher’ series.

Hype for Netflix’s The Witcher series — which is based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski and takes place 20 years before the popular video game series — is still going strong and was bolstered by series lead Henry Cavill releasing a slew of brand-new images this morning.

Fans will finally get a look at Geralt of Rivia in his famous leather armor and sporting his infamous wolf head medallion. Also shown are Ciri, Geralt’s destiny in human form, and Yennefer of Vengerberg, a formidable sorceress and lover to Geralt.

Not much to see of young Cirilla just yet. This is just how we’d expect her to be though. A princess not yet exposed to the harsh destiny awaiting her and the fierce rigors of Witcher training at Kaer Morhen. The Tower of Swallows awaits her.

The tagline for Netflix’s The Witcher series thus far is “The Worst Monsters Are The Ones We Create.” Could that be a telling clue to the first season’s narrative?

Netflix did a really nice job with Geralt. His leather armor is black and covered in silver studs and spikes, just as its been described in the books. If you look closely you can also glimpse a look at Geralt’s infamous wolf head medallion, and in his hands in one of his famous razor sharp Witcher swords.

Yennefer is elegant, beautiful, and has stunning purple eyes. Her obsidian star is present, but buried in the folds of her furs. You can see it in full below. Hopefully she smells of lilac and gooseberries.

Did Netflix nail the look of the Vengerberg sorceress, the sole princess of Cintra et al? (Ciri should be a little more ashen-haired, shouldn’t she?) Let us know in the comments.
