Hear ye, hear ye, Netflix has finally announced the release date for the third season of the The Crown. The historical drama, which chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II first debuted in November 2016.
Since its initial premiere, the story has developed significantly on screen as well as behind the scenes. The series begins before Elizabeth (played by Claire Foy) is queen and follows her into her coronation and early years on the throne. Matt Smith played the Duke of Edinburgh and Vanessa Kirby played Princess Margaret. John Lithgow earned an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Winston Churchill.
It was announced in 2017, that the third season would skip forward in time to show the progression of Queen Elizabeth, other political figures, and the country. Recent Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman will step in to play the Queen, Helena Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret, and Tobias Menzies will replace Matt Smith as Prince Phillip.
Season 3 will be available on Netflix November 17th.
