X-Men fans still haven’t recovered from yesterday’s news from MCM Comic Con London that two of mutantdom’s greatest rivals would join forces in February’s Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost by Jonathan Hickman and Russell Dauterman.

In term’s of the comic’s actual story, Marvel’s press release stated that “the new mutant nation of Krakoa is the place for fresh starts, and Jean and Emma, known for their fierce rivalry, will unite to rescue Storm from danger.” Just a brief tease of things to come… but do we actually know more than we think?
While scrolling through Twitter, I caught this tweet from the talented Leah Williams…
i just got a privileged lil peek at more details and i’m for real for real crying now. like. this is what i’ve been dreaming of for so long, my heart is bursting
— Leah Williams (@mymonsterischic) October 25, 2019
Williams, who is quite possibly Emma Frost’s biggest fan, has spoken to AIPT a few times about the character, and her tweet got me thinking about the first time we chatted after the release of X-Men Black: Emma Frost #1. In that interview, Leah mentioned what she hoped would eventually happen to Emma and Jean…
Hm, could that be what Williams has been “dreaming of for so long”? I mean, it certainly seems like we’re heading in that direction based on that infamous scene at the end of House of X #6.

But wait, there’s more! In X-Men Monday #11 – X-Couples, X-Men Senior Editor Jordan D. White was asked who the love of Scott Summers’ life was–Jean or Emma. White went with Jean (duh), before taking things in a… let’s say, more polyamorous direction…
Hmm…

That was published in May 2019. Look, all I’m saying is it may be time for X-Fans to reread all 32 editions of X-Men Monday a little more closely… who knows what other details are hidden in there.
Anyway, Williams and White’s comments certainly seem to hint at thawing relations between Jean and Emma. Great news for X-Fandom–and even better for Cyclops!
