Today Blizzard announced Shadowlands, the eighth expansion to World of Warcraft. In the game, players will be able to explore the afterlife itself, as Sylvanas exposes the mysterious Shadowlands after destroying the Helm of Domination. Later on at Blizzcon, it was revealed that the level cap is being reduced back to where it all started: level 60.
Players who are max level before Shadowlands drops (currently 120) will start at level 50 in Shadowlands content. From there, Blizzard promises a revamped leveling system that “provides a meaningful sense of achievement” at every level, something sorely missing in today’s sprawling, long-winded leveling experience.
In addition to this new level cap, Pandaren and all allied races will be able to be Death Knights, and there are of course several new zones, raids and dungeons to explore.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will be released some time in 2020, and is available for pre-purchase now.
