The trailer for the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has arrived

Twelve new episodes arrive on Disney+ Feb 21, 2020.

The Skywalker saga may be over but don’t worry, there’s more Star Wars content coming, and it arrives next month in the form of the final season of Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The beloved series returns for its seventh and final season on February 21 with twelve new episodes.

It’s been more than four years since the sixth season of The Clone Wars aired its last episode in 2014, so to celebrate the exciting news of the show’s return, Disney has released the first full length trailer for the final season. Check it out below.

The trailer brings back several fan favorite characters, including Darth Maul, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the venerable Jedi Master, Yoda. Tano and Maul are two of the most popular characters among Star Wars fans and during the trailer there’s a major tease for an epic lightsaber battle between the two.

The Clone Wars is an animated series set between the events of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith that initially follows the exploits of Anakin Skywalker, his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. As the show progresses it expands to include the stories of a number of Republic clone troopers fighting alongside the Jedi against the Separatists, and Darth Maul’s path of vengeance and destruction.

After five seasons the show was unexpectedly cancelled in 2013 following Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, but a 13-episode sixth season, dubbed “The Most Missions,” was released in 2014. At San Diego Comic-Con 2018 during a Clone Wars panel it was revealed that the show would be returning for a final season.

As with The Mandalorian before it, new episodes of The Clone Wars will drop weekly every Friday on the Disney+ streaming service.

Check out the new poster for the final season below.
