WWE changes Buddy Murphy’s name

Bid farewell to one half of this Superstar’s name.

WWE RAW Tag Team Champion Buddy Murphy has joined a very exclusive club among his fellow Superstar’s, that of the shortened name club!

Like Andrade, Cesaro, Rusev, Big E, and many more that have come before him, Buddy Murphy has lost part of his name and had it shorted to simply “Murphy.” You can see the change on his WWE.com profile photo below.

For reasons no one really understands, Vince McMahon and his fellow WWE creative executives have shown quiet the predilection for shortening Superstar’s names with the belief being that this somehow enables their talent to get over more with the crowd. Of course Vince has walked back these changes many times in the past, the most recent example being Mustafa Ali who lost and regained his first name in less than a year.
