Sony Interactive Entertainment will reveal more details about its upcoming next-generation console, the PS5, in a special event tomorrow, March 18, at 9am PST / 12 noon EST. Fans can watch the event live on Sony’s PlayStation Blog.
PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will take viewers on a “deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games,” said Sony in an announcement on Twitter.

Sony’s event arrives just days after Microsoft revealed the full tech specs for their next-gen Xbox Series X console. The Series X boast’s a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU boasting eight cores that clock in at 3.8GHz each and a custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 12 teraflops and 52 compute units clocked at 1.825GHz each, alongside 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and a 1TB custom NVMe SSD. It will also be fully backwards compatible with Xbox One titles and a large number of Xbox 360 and original Xbox games.
All we know about the PS5 at this point is that it will have a 2020 Holiday release, feature a solid state drive, support ray tracing, and be backwards compatible with PS4 games.
