Blizzard’s latest Hearthstone expansion, Ashes of Outland, is less than a week away, and a very special change arrives with the first new expansion in the Year of the Phoenix — the first-ever new hero class, the Demon Hunter. Illidan Stormrage himself has come to Hearthstone and he’s pulling players through the Dark Portal to help him and his army of fellow Demon Hunters fight off the evil machinations of the Rusted Legion.
But before players can join Illidan as a fellow Demon Hunter, they’ll need to complete the new hero class’ prologue campaign. The prologue is free for all players and unlocks today, Thursday, April 7, with a set of four story-driven single-player missions that explore the events of Illidan’s past that culminated in his transformation into a Demon Hunter.
Players will also get their first look at the Demon Hunter playstyle, including their unique Hero Power — Demon Claws — a one mana-cost ability that grants +1 Attack to the player’s current turn. Demon Hunter players also gain access to cards with the unique Outcast keyword, an ability which makes then become more powerful when played from the left or right-most position of your hand, including the turn they’re drawn.
Upon completing the campaign, players unlock:
- Demon Hunter class
- Illidan Hero
- 30 free cards
- 10 Demon Hunter Basic cards
- 20-card Demon Hunter Initiate set
- Demon Hunter starting decklist (as long as you have an open deck slot)
A total of 135 new cards will be introduced in Ashes of Outland, introducing new mechanics such as the aforementioned Outcast ability.
Ashes of Outland arrives April 7. You are now prepared!
