NJPW has announced the cancellation of all live events from now until May 4, including Wrestling Dontaku 2020. This is the fourth round of cancellations the company has announced since the global COVID-19 pandemic began.
“In response to the continuing Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, and in light of state of emergency measures across Japan announced on April 7, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has arrived at the decision to cancel all events that were scheduled up to and including Wrestling Dontaku 2020 on May 3 & 4,” said NJPW in an announcement.
The company also shared in their statement that they are exploring the possibility of holding matches without fans in attendance; much like WWE and AEW are actively doing with their weekly television shows Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and Dynamite.
