In an exclusive report today by Will Thorne of Variety, it was revealed that preproduction on the third season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian is already under way.
With all the recent news about movies and television shows having their release dates pushed back due to the COVID-19 lockdown, it’s surprising (and refreshing) to hear that one of our favorite series is still on schedule.
As of right now, the second season of The Mandalorian is still scheduled to debut on Disney+ this October, thanks in no small part to the fact that the show wrapped filming right before everything began shutting down in early March. This allowed the creative team behind the series to start work on the third season’s scripts and concept art, a process that takes considerably longer than most other television productions due to the effects and costume/creature creation required for the show.
While delays are certainly still possible, it’s good to know that Din Djarin’s adventures are being mapped out so far into future.
