Red Dead Redemption 2 comes to Xbox Game Pass in May

Grand Theft Auto V is gone but one of 2018’s biggest games is filling the void.

Microsoft has announced that Rockstar Games’ 2018 open world hit Red Dead Redemption 2 will be joining the Xbox Game Pass catalogue on Xbox One next month on May 7. You can pre-download the game right now.

As one of the best selling games of all time Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge get for Game Pass. It broke numerous sales records on launch, received wide spread critical acclaim, and won over 175 Game of the Year Awards.

Yet, while Microsoft gains a huge Rockstar title, it’s also losing another — Grand Theft Auto V — which arrived to Game Pass in January, will leave the service the same day that Red Dead Redemption 2 arrives. If you want to play GTA V through Game Pass, hurry up, because you’ve only got a couple of weeks left to do so before you’ll need to buy the game. One piece of good news is that if you want to continue playing GTA V after its removed, you can receive 20% off your purchase as a Game Pass subscriber.

Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in the American wild west in the year 1899. Players can join federal marshals to hunt down outlaw gangs, strike off on their own as bounty hunters, or become outlaws themselves. Ride your trusty horse across American’s heartland as you encounter stagecoach robberies, Native American tribes, wild animal attacks, and more.
