New Game+ Expo announced, digital showcase coming in June

A collaboration of 14 publishers from Japan and North America.

As with almost every other industry in the world, video games events are suffering mass cancellations due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time in its history the Electronic Entertainment Expo was cancelled, Riot Games cancelled their second-largest annual international League of Legends competition, and several AAA titles, such as The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima have had their release date’s pushed back.

In the face of these mass cancellations and the inability to hold public gatherings, companies are having to get creative to show off their games. Microsoft announced Xbox 20/20, a new program that promises to deliver monthly Xbox Series X updates, Ubisoft announced “Ubisoft Forward,” an upcoming digital showcase, and now a collaboration of fourteen video game publishers from Japan and North America have announced a new digital showcase coming in June called New Game+ Expo.

NGPX or New Game+ Expo, is a digital presentation that will showcase dozens of games, new title announcements, development updates, and live gameplay demos. The 7-hour event will be streamed live on Twitch on June 23 at 8 a.m. PDT.

“New Game+ Expo is a grassroots coalition of publishers and developers,” said Adam Johnson, producer of NGPX. “Organizing together for the first time, we hope fans have fun as we take a look at the combined upcoming lineup of games for 2020 and beyond!”
