Marvel’s Iron Man VR bundle announced, free demo out now

You can fly and fight as one of Earth’s mightiest heroes.

Thursday, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on the PlayStation Blog that Marvel’s Iron Man VR for PS VR will receive a special PlayStation 4 exclusive bundle ahead of its July 3 launch. Perhaps even more exciting is that fans can play a new free demo for the game that launched today on the PlayStation Network.

Marvel’s Iron Man VR was first announced at New York Comic Con in 2019 with a scheduled release date of February 28, 2020. Since that time the game has been pushed back twice due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; the first delay was to May, and then again to July 3.

The free demo includes the “Malibu” tutorial mission as well as the Interactive Stark Jet cinematic starring Tony, Friday & Pepper Potts, “Out of the Blue” Stark Jet gameplay mission, Flight Challenge optional mission, and Advanced Combat Challenge optional mission” Sony has described the demo as a “small slice of the main game” but promises players that by the end of the “Out of the Blue” mission they’ll start to feel like Iron Man.

Players who play the demo will unlock the Molten Lava Armor Deco which will be made available to them when they purchase the full game.

Sony tells us that the PlayStation VR Iron Man bundle includes a PlayStation VR headset, PlayStation Camera, two PlayStation Move motion controllers, Marvel’s Iron Man VR Blu-ray disc, and a PS VR Demo Disc. Pre-ordering will also secure you four unique skins for Iron Man’s armor: Golden Avenger, Black Centurion, Sun Stinger, and Stealth Armor. You can pre-order the bundle starting today for $349.99 USD / $449.99 CDN (MSRP).
