It’s almost all positive vibes on the comics podcast this week as Dave and Forrest break down a lot of good news. We also highlight a TKO book in our new segment TKO Corner and talk about Pound for Pound. It’s a book Dave says is, “Like if Sylvester Stalone produced Breaking Bad written by Garth Ennis and it was drawn by Eduardo Russo.”
Before we get into TKO, we break down the news. At the top of our news is Marvel’s Comic-Con@Home schedule being announced, Marvel and Scholastic teaming up to make OGN series for middle-graders, the drama around Robert Kirkman saying he was “treated like crap” at Marvel, Marvel’s King in Black coming December 2020, Marvel’s digital-only is now in print, and Eve L. Ewing & Simone De Meo’s CHAMPIONS is back on Marvel’s schedule for October.
In non-Marvel related news, Dragoncon is canceled, Image Comics reveals their Humble Bundle generated $140K to help local comic book shops, BOOM! keeps locking in artists for long deals, Gary Larson returns with new Far Side comics, DC Comics is delivering 2 horror anthologies, and finally comic and graphic novel sales reach $1.2 billion in 2019.
