‘Captain Marvel 2’ to be helmed by ‘Candy Man’ director Nia DaCosta

In a report today from Justin Kroll at Deadline.com, it was revealed that Nia DaCosta has been hired to direct the next Captain Marvel movie.

In an exclusive report yesterday from Justin Kroll at Deadline, it was revealed that Nia DaCosta has been hired by Disney to direct the next Captain Marvel movie.

Nia DaCosta

DaCosta started to make a name for herself in 2018 after writing and directing the hit indie crime thriller Little Woods. She also directed and helped pen the upcoming Candyman sequel, which looks all types of good.

Both of DaCosta’s current major writing/directing credits have a significantly dark tone, so it will be interesting to see what she comes up with for what will most likely be a cosmic adventure story. While there obviously aren’t any plot details or release information about the Captain Marvel sequel (especially with the pandemic pushing everything back), it looks like Carol Danvers will be in good hands for her next solo adventure.
