Adventures in Movies! Episode 84: Latinx Cinema

The boys look at Latinx cinema.

In honor of Mexico’s Independence Day, Danny, Blake, and Nathaniel discuss Latinx movies and filmmakers. Anybody can talk about Diego Luna and Pan’s Labyrinth (which the guys do), but the three take a deeper dive into Latinx film.

This week’s episode starts with a talk about whether it is fair to label Tenet a flop. The guys also talk about the latest trailer for The Mandolorian. These leads to a discussion about the proper names for characters and the worse types of fans.

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly movies podcast, Adventures in Movies!

On this week’s What You Need to Know, the three talk about the lack of Latinx characters on network television. This leads into a discussion on what streaming networks offer and why they do not attract any of the three.

The main segment is about Latinx films and filmmakers. The guys talk the usual suspects but also make sure to talk about names that are not as familiar. From directors like Gigi Saul Guerrero to movies such as Like Water For Chocolate, the three talk about their favorite parts of Latinx cinema.
