HBO Max released the first official Zack Snyder Justice League trailer this morning and the collective internet is losing its mind. Not because we get to see Darkseid, the Batmobile from Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns, or Superman screaming his face-off, but because Joker says, “We live in a society.”

Don’t be surprised if you were unaware of the sentence “we live in a society” as I had to look it up, but it’s deeply tied to a meme that has lived on for years. The meme requires knowledge of internet language and meme’ing in general–this site explains it better than I ever could–but the meme is one that has been tossed around so much it has warped its meaning a few times. It’s a term used for ridicule for those who think they don’t belong, been cast out from society, or are using it ironically.
Aside from this, the Snyder Cut trailer has plenty of new shots to check out, especially for fans of the New Gods.
