On Thursday, Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that DC will publish The Nice House on the Lake, a creator-owned comic by James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martínez Bueno. The 12-issue series (which is described as a first season) will be released through DC’s Black Label starting in June.

According to Kit’s report, the story revolves around a group of friends invited to a lake house owned by Walter, a man they all know to widely varying degrees. He’s a little weird, but that’s never stopped anyone from wanting to become his friend (which is basically how I describe David Brooke to people).
Once the group arrives, however, they learn that the world has slipped into “terrifying chaos,” preventing them from being able to leave…and Walter isn’t who any of them thought he was.

Later, DC Comics posted another preview for the series along with a teaser of Walter’s invitation to his doomed friends.

The first issue of the series will be released on June 1.
Hearing James Tynion IV’s name attached to a creator-owned horror comic was all I needed to put this on my pull list. Considering how good his Department of Truth series is, I’m guessing many of you feel the same way. When you add in the fantastic premise and Bueno’s gorgeous artwork, summer can’t get here soon enough.
