During Friday’s Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest 2021 livestream, the toymaker released a Transformers item that’s sure to impress even the most casual fans of the franchise. Feast your eyes upon the self-transforming Optimus Prime!

At 19″ in robot form, this Optimus Prime will tower over most of your collection. In addition to its beautiful G1 sculpt/paint job, the figure is packed with 5,000 components, 60 microchips, and 27 servo motors courtesy of the masterminds at Robosen. The robotics company has made other transforming robots, but this is unquestionably their masterpiece.
In addition to going from a semi truck to the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime responds to 25 voice commands like “roll out” or “attack” with a variety of sounds, phrases, and actions. You can also customize the commands/sequences and control Optimus Prime via an app (available for both iPhone and Android), which will add even more phrases and actions via future downloads.
Also, as someone who used to love trucks as a little kid, I’d like to make sure folks notice that the figure has working headlights and taillights.

If you want to see the figure in action, Robosen posted a great video of CNET Senior Editor Bridget Cary getting a chance to play with it right out of the box.
Her reaction to what Optimus Prime does after she commands him to transform (and the classic Transformer sound he makes while doing it) is gloriously relatable.

The only bad thing about this figure (besides that orange battle axe accessory) is the price, which clocks in at a cool $699.99 before taxes and shipping. Thankfully for those of us with no willpower, preorders have already sold out.
If you were lucky enough to snag one, however, it’s expected to arrive this October. The figure will also be packaged in a collectors case that should make it much easier to take Optimus Prime to parties and impress your friends.
