Marvel Legends: New ‘Wolverine vs. Villains’ box set revealed

Marvel Legends releases a new boxset featuring a shirtless Wolverine taking on four of his most eclectic adversaries.

Over the last week, Marvel Legends revealed single figures to various toy websites of what appeared to be a new Wolverine wave. On Friday, however, it was revealed they were actually part of a new Amazon exclusive box set.

After last week’s Age of Apocalypse wave reveal, it’s clear that Hasbro isn’t afraid to dig deep into X-Men lore to create new figures. Let’s take a look at each one in this set and see if it’s worth worth purchasing.

Shirtless Wolverine

The undisputed star of the group, although I must admit that the way the ab crunch looks with this paint scheme really diminishes things.

On the plus side, the figure does come with two excellent head sculpts.

Omega Red

This one doesn’t look too different from the Marvel Legends Omega Red we got a couple years ago. In fact, I like the paint job on that one much better. This version comes with two superior head sculpts, though, so it’s definitely worth picking up if you want the character and don’t have him yet.

Fair warning from this point on: Things are going to get pretty obscure even for a big time Marvel fan like me.

Cyber

I know next to nothing about this character, but I absolutely love his color scheme. It’s also a pretty safe bet this will be the only time Cyber ever gets a Marvel Legends figure.

Callisto

Callisto is a member of the Morlocks, although she must not have made an impression on me as a teenager in ’90s because I don’t remember her at all. That being said, I do really like the blue streaked hair.

Jason Wyngarde (aka Mastermind)

Mastermind is supposedly a pretty big deal in the X-Men’s mythology, but I am once again drawing a blank. You gotta love that outfit and alternated/bearded head, though.

So yeah…I’m pretty sure Hasbro made this boxset for X-Obsessed folks like our very own Chris Hassan. Luckily for them, that’s likely to be a big enough market to still make sure this one sells.

If you happen to count yourself as part of the dedicated X-Men fandom, the set will retail for $120.99 and is available for preorder now with an expected arrival in December.
