Tom Taylor announced today via Twitter he is going exclusive with DC Comics. The creator has been a workhorse for DC Comics over the last five years writing DCeased, Suicide Squad, and more recently Nightwing, Dark Knights of Steel, and Superman: Son of Kal El, but has also been dabbling with Marvel most recently with the Elseworlds story Dark Ages.
The Tweet was sent this morning which means future Marvel work is off the table.
Details are usually scarce as far as how long the contract will last, but this means there’s no chance of seeing Tom Taylor on any Marvel books for a while. Some were theorizing just this week Taylor might be involved with Destiny of X, for instance, but that’s certainly not happening now.
Contracts like these last in most cases a few years but do run out as seen recently when Brian Michael Bendis’ contract ended with DC Comics.
This news doesn’t come as a huge surprise given how many series by Taylor are huge hits. That and creators like Scott Snyder have stepped away from DC Comics to focus on creator-owned projects.
