WWE continues to clean house, as Fightful has reported that the company has released William Regal, Road Dogg, Ace Steel, Ryan Katz, Scott Armstrong and other backstage personnel.
William Regal most recently served as the on-air General Manager of NXT, a role he had since 2014. Before that, William Regal was a mainstay in WWE as a wrestler, competing in the company from 1998 to 2013, with a brief run in WCW in between. After the rebranding of NXT to NXT 2.0, Regal was phased out as General Manager.
Road Dogg was a producer for the company, and has a run as head writer of SmackDown for several years. As a wrestler, Road Dogg, along with his D-Generation X stable mates, was a fixture of the vaunted Attitude Era and a member of one of the most prolific tag teams of all time, the New Age Outlaws alongside current AEW wrestler Billy Gunn.
Ace Steel was a coach at NXT, and an independent wrestler before that, with multiple stints in Ring of Honor and TNA. Ryan Katz was a writer for WWE, and Scott Armstrong was a producer and formerly referee.
WWE released some 80 on-air talents in 2021, and 2022 is already shaping up to be more of the same. We wish everyone the best of luck in their future endeavors.
