Ray Stevenson cast in Disney+ ‘Ahsoka’ series

Stevenson will likely portray a villainous admiral, but not the one you’re thinking of.

On Friday, Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that Ray Stevenson has been cast in the upcoming Ahsoka series for Disney+.

If you’re a genre film fan, then there are a number of places you’ve likely seen Stevenson, including his portrayal of Marcus Eaton in the Divergent series and rocking an awesome beard as Volstagg in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok.

While there’s no official word on who he’ll be portraying for Ahsoka, Kit says his sources tell him it will be a villainous admiral. Before you get too excited (or confused), Kit followed that up by clarifying that it’s not Admiral Thrawn.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I’m betting that Stevenson will play an admiral tasked to search for Thrawn after he and Ezra Bridger disappeared at the end of Star Wars: Rebels. I’m also still convinced that no one else but Lars Mikkelsen can portray Thrawn in live action. The casting would be perfect even if he hadn’t already done a spectacular job voicing the character in Rebels.

Ahsoka is set to begin filming in April.
