On Friday, Justin Kroll of Deadline exclusively revealed that Alessandro Nivola has been cast as a villain/antagonist in Sony’s upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie. This follows recent reports that Ariana DuBose and Fred Hechinger will play Calypso and Chameleon respectively. (Aaron Tayler-Johnson will be portraying the title role).
Nivola has had a long and successful screen/stage career. He recently got a lot of attention for his central role in The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel film to 2021 The Sopranos series. As a 90’s kid, I’ve always been partial to his creepy portrayal of Pollux Troy in 1997’s Face/Off.
He also played Billy Brennan in Jurassic Park III, but we won’t hold that against him.
As far as who Alessandro Nivola will be in a film already stacked with B-listers from Spider-Man’s rogues gallery, that’s anyone’s guess. With all this recent casting news, however, there’s a decent chance that details about Kraven the Hunter‘s plot will finally start to emerge.
Whether that happens or not, we’ll all get to find out when the film hits theaters on January 13, 2023.
