Publisher Nacon has shared a teaser for developer Rogue Factor’s next game, Hell Is Us. The two-minute trailer doesn’t reveal much, but certainly presents a dark and mysterious atmosphere and visually striking setting that reminds one of Death Stranding. It’ll be an adventure game set in a semi-open world “where the main character sets out to learn more about his past in a country ravaged by civil war,” according to a press release announcing the game. Supernatural monsters have sprouted up in this land and the player character of Hell Is Us is tasked with defeating them.
Development of Hell Is Us is being led by creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête. He’s previously worked as an art director and later executive art director on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Nacon describes Hell Is Us as a a game in a new genre, saying it’ll offer players the opportunity to explore environments to discover any and all information by themselves. “Our goal with Hell is Us is to bring back true adventure and exploration. There’s no need for a detailed quest log or precise waypoint on the map: we want players to feel the thrill of adventure, guided by their feelings and instincts,” Jacques-Belletête said.
You can expect Hell Is Us to arrive in 2023 for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
