Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of April 13, 2022

The five very best comics of the week.

It’s time for another edition of Fantastic Five, where we call out the five best comics of the week! This week, we have two Image Comics series, two DC books and a highly-anticipated Marvel book. Let’s get right to ’em!

Flashpoint Beyond #0

Flashpoint Beyond creates a mystery by presenting a lost world returned. Many questions will cause suspense and wonder. Absorb the art, clues, and Easter eggs as Beyond can be a story link that will tighten up Flashpoint and Doomsday Clock by revisiting and adding depth.

Farmhand #16

Rob Guillory doesn’t miss a beat in Farmhand #16, a refreshing and fun return to Freetown. If you’re looking for a horror comic with some humor thrown in, Farmhand #16 is an excellent place to start.

X-Men ’92: House of XCII #1

All in all, X-Men 92: House of XCII both embraces and weaponizes nostalgia in fascinating ways. The final page will definitely drop some jaws of longtime fans, and I can’t wait to see how this take on the universe develops from here.

Read Nathan Simmons’s full review:

‘X-Men ’92: House of XCII’ #1 is gnarly, weaponized nostalgia

King Spawn #9

King Spawn #9 is a good issue that stands alone in some respects as it recaps elements for readers but also keeps it simple with Spawn fighting monsters. King Spawn #9 is a good journey as it turns the whole narrative upside down and ties everything together in its final moments.

‘King Spawn’ #9 forces Albert to look within as he battles monsters

The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #1

The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country is delectably weird and haunting. It will stick with you, for better or worse if you value your sleep!

‘The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country’ #1 is a haunting affair
