On Tuesday, the Hasbro Marvel Legends hosted a live stream to unveil a bunch of new figures. While it’s always fun when they do this, many of the items were Spider-Man related, meaning David Brooke and I will likely need to expand our toy budgets.
Hasbro also unveiled its new plastic-free packaging. It wasn’t clear if this will be implemented beyond fan channel exclusives, but it’s likely not a huge issue for openers who buy most of their figures online–especially if it helps the environment a bit.
Let’s take a look at what was revealed, starting with the items that will go up for preorder on Wednesday, April 20 at 1:00 PM ET. They almost all be fan channel exclusives, meaning you can snag them from online toy retailers or on Hasbro Pulse while supplies last.
Peter Park and Ned Leeds 2-pack
I don’t typically buy MCU figures, but this pack almost broke me. In addition to being really great characters, Peter and Ned come with some fantastic alternate heads and accessories.
The set will retail for $55.99 and is expected to arrive in December.
Spider-Man and Spinneret 2-pack
It’s exciting enough getting a new Spider-Man sculpt with pinless articulation. Add in MJ/Spinneret from the fantastic Renew Your Vows storyline, and there’s no way I’m passing this one up.
The set will retail for $55.99 and is expected to arrive in November.
Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary Toad
One of Marvel Legends’ first and most famous figures finally gets a 20th anniversary update. Like the other 20th anniversary figures, it comes with retro Toybiz packaging along with a stand, a background display, and some great accessories. The set looks fantastic, but isn’t really my thing. I bet our X-Men editor Chris Hassan will want one, though.
Toad will retail for $33.99 (bleh) and is expected to arrive in December.
Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man
Still one of the all-time best Spidey designs, but now on a figure with incredible articulation. If you don’t have a figure based on the character’s appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 yet, then this one is worth the $27.99.
The figure is also expected to arrive in December.
Knull and Venom 2-pack
I was not a fan of the King in Black storyline, but I’m a sucker for a cool Venom figure–especially one with wings. I also can’t deny that the Knull sculpt is really good.
The set will retail for $77.99 (giving me a great reason to pass on it) and should arrive in December.
Iron Spider
This figure looks great, but I’m still more than happy with the ones I’ve got–especially since this version will retail for $33.99. I get that the arms might cost a bit extra, but good lord, Hasbro…
The beautiful-yet-grossly-overpriced Iron Spider is expected to arrive in December.
Future Foundation Spider-Man (Stealth Suit)
At $27.99, I’m not sure I can pull the trigger on this one. Future Foundation Spider-Man looks cool, but isn’t a version of the character I absolutely need in my Marvel Legends collection.
If you want one, however, then the figure is expected to arrive in December.
This next set will be available exclusively from Target, which is a shame since it’s so cool.
Spider-Man Noire and Spider-Ham
I actually like this Spider-Man Noir better than the one from a few years ago. Combine that with the Spider-Ham pack-in figure, and this one’s a buy.
The set will retail for $29.99 and is expected to arrive on store shelves in December. You can try to preorder it on Wedneday, but you know how that goes with Target.
You know what’s worse than a great looking toy that’s a Target exclusive? A great looking toy that’s a Walmart exclusive.
Retro Collection Lizard
No price or preorder or pricing information has been released yet, but it’s unlikely most of us will be able to find or purchase one anyway.
Silk and Doctor Octopus 2-pack
We already got a peek at this Amazon exclusive last month before it promptly sold out. Thankfully, Amazon expects to get more stock in soon.
While the Thor: Love and Thunder wave was already leaked last week, we have a much better look at the figures now. I’ve heard some folks say Hasbro missed the mark on Natalie Portman’s likeness (Mighty Thor), but I think personally think it looks great. Gorr, on the other hand, is still pretty rough from a design standpoint.
The figures will each cost $24.99 and go up for preorder on Tuesday, April 26.
