The biggest new video games releasing the week of 4/25/22

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

2022 has been off to a blazing start for gamers, from major releases like Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Horizon Forbidden West to Elden Ring. April may have been quiet so far, but this week closes out the month with several games that are guaranteed to grab your attention.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodhunt (4/27)

The Vampire: The Masquerade series goes free-to-play battle royale with Bloodhunt. The full game gets released for PC and PS5 this week after previously being released into Steam early access last September. Players will take control of vampires battling it out in Prague after a war was fought between vampire sects. The PS5 version takes full advantage of the DualSense’s triggers and haptic feedback, which you can watch a demonstration of in the trailer below.

The Serpent Rogue (4/26)

The Serpent Rogue is a beautiful gothic action-adventure game from Sengi Games. Gameplay consists of cultivating ingredients to use in crafted potions, experimenting with alchemy, and fighting or taming various beastly enemies as you journey to save the world from the corruption infecting it. It’s described as “sandbox roguelike,” meaning locations and items are randomly placed around the land. A free demo is currently available on Steam.

Dune: Spice Wars (4/26)

Frank Herbert’s classic Dune continues its moment in the spotlight. The books have returned to bestseller status, the 2021 film adaptation won several Oscars last month, and this weeks sees the release of Dune: Spice Wars to Steam early access. Spice Wars is a real-time strategy game “with 4X elements” (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) where players take control of one of Arrakis’s great factions and lead it to power and glory by controlling the series’ famed spice. You can sabotage opponents, use political policy to gain an edge, or simply declare all out war for the spice.

Also worth checking out: Bugsnax (releasing on Xbox consoles, Game Pass, Switch, and PC), The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe edition, Research and Destroy, and Galactic Civilization IV.
