This weekend, the developers at Awaceb announced a delay in their anticipated game, Tchia, to 2023. They posted a quick update on Twitter with information regarding the game’s development. It states the release window they’re now shooting for is early 2023 in an effort to “really polish every aspect of the game and flesh out all the little details.”

For those unfamiliar with the game, Tchia is an open-world adventure game boasting a unique tropical setting. Inspired by the real-world Pacific island of New Caledonia, Tchia seeks to bring players into the island’s culture and explore its rich details. According to their website, the game will include features such as a fully playable ukulele and “soul jumping” to take control of any in-game animal or object.
It’s unfortunate to see such a unique game suffer the delayed fate of so many other projects of late, but as many gamers can probably attest a delayed and polished game is much better than a rushed unfinished product. Tchia will release as a Playstation exclusive across both PS4 and PS5 in early 2023. For more information and gameplay, check out the trailer on the Tchia’s site.
