DC Comics has revealed via Twitter, that the new trans superhero Dreamer is getting an original graphic novel. Written by Nicole Maines and drawn by Rye Hickman, the series has yet to get a release date. Likely there’ll be a title and release date announcement soon. Maines plays the superhero Dreamer on the popular Supergirl CW series.
Maines was recently announced as the co-writer of Superman: Son of Kal-El #13 with co-writer with Tom Taylor. Set for a July 12th release, Superman: Son of Kal-El will introduce Dreamer into the main DC Universe.
At the time, Maines said, “Jon Kent and Nia Nal are two characters that have a lot in common, both as superheroes with the weight of the world on their shoulders, and as young people with impossibly big shoes to fill.”
“Weaving their stories together for Superman: Son of Kal-El with Tom was a complete pleasure, and there is only a little pun intended when I say that Superman and Dreamer make for a brilliant new Dream-Team.”
You can read Maines’ latest DC Comics work in DC Pride 2022 which has an introduction by Maines. Fans can read DC Pride 2022 next week in comics shops on Tuesday.
Dreamer first appeared on Supergirl in 2018 set within the Arrowverse. The character is an ancestor of Nura Nal aka Dream Girl. You can read up on the character here.
