Marvel reveals full ‘March to Hulk War’ lineup as Infernal Hulk tears heroes

The road to Hulk War is paved with devastation as Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s four-part Infernal Hulk Vs. series unleashes Wolverine, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and the more.

Marvel Comics has revealed the full March to Hulk War, a four-part series of oversized one-shots that will serve as the explosive final lead-in to Hulk War, the publisher’s major 2027 event spinning out of Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein’s acclaimed Infernal Hulk run.

Announced during Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the one-shots chronicle Infernal Hulk’s relentless march across the Marvel Universe as the ancient evil known as the Eldest continues to corrupt heroes, build an army, and reshape the world in preparation for Hulk War.

Written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson with a rotating lineup of artists, each issue sees Infernal Hulk overwhelm another corner of the Marvel Universe while assembling his terrifying Infernal Avengers, first teased in Amazing Spider-Man #1000/Queen in Black #1 CGD 2026.

“MARCH TO HULK WAR kicks off the final act of our story that Nic Klein and I started with Incredible Hulk #1 in 2023,” Johnson said. “It’s a series of one-shot battles between Infernal Hulk and Earth’s mightiest heroes, as Hulk gathers his terrifying Infernal Avengers for Hulk War. The one-shots feature one of the most epic rivalries in comics, Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine, and an ending that I’m expecting to shock some people.”

The event begins in September with Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine #1, illustrated by Jonas Scharf, as Wolverine sets out to rescue mutants abducted and corrupted by Infernal Hulk.

The assault continues in October with Infernal Hulk vs. Fantastic Four #1, featuring artwork by Cian Tormey. The issue reveals Infernal Hulk’s true objective: Reed Richards’ mysterious Immaculate Engine, a supernatural machine hidden within the Baxter Building that may be Earth’s last hope against Hulk’s growing army.

By November, New York has fallen.

Infernal Hulk vs. Spider-Man #1, drawn by Javier Pina, follows Spider-Man as he defies orders to rescue the Richards family and recover the one weapon capable of preventing what Marvel calls the Age of Monsters, while Infernal Hulk’s ranks continue to grow.

The march concludes in December with Infernal Hulk vs. Avengers #1, where Earth’s last uncorrupted heroes make a final stand after Infernal Hulk completes his armies, fortress, and terrifying roster of Infernal Avengers.

Johnson also promised readers that these battles won’t hold back.

“The most fun aspect of this series were rereading old Marvel battles, reminding myself what’s been done and how hard we’ve been willing to go in the past,” he said. “Be advised: there were discussions about how violent we could go with these one-shots. I want to keep ramping up the horror vibe of the Hulk series, and for our readers to see things in these one-shots they’ve never seen before. On both counts, I promise we’ll deliver.”

Each issue will feature covers by Nic Klein, who has helped define the visual identity of Infernal Hulk since the series launched in 2023.

With every battle bringing another devastating defeat and another hero into Infernal Hulk’s growing army, the March to Hulk War promises to reshape the Marvel Universe before the main event even begins.
