“As comics fans, we all dream not only of fantastic powers and heroic ideals but also a better world. And if we can’t find a utopia in reality, then we’ll imagine one into existence.” said Group Editor Rachel Gluckstern. “At their core, the city of Culverton and its superpowered residents known as the Emergents make up my dream universe…and now, we’re proud to bring these messy, complicated, and fully realized characters together in one book, under a beautiful cover by artist Lynne Yoshii.”

NEW YORK, NY – In support of Pride month, InterPop, a new Web3 based digital entertainment company, is releasing a special Pride one-shot comic featuring its LGBTQIA+ characters from its superpowered anthology series Emergents Presents, with all proceeds after creator royalties going towards The Trevor Project, the crisis intervention service for LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing depression, anxiety or stress. The issue will be available to purchase digitally on June 22nd on interpopcomics.com.

InterPop has debuted its first four comic book series The Nine, Emergents Presents, #ZOEMG, and The Abyss on the Tezos blockchain in the last year, creating a brand new superhero universe, with all comics available digitally via their InterPop Comics readership platform. Alongside a number of LGBTQIA+ characters, this month InterPop is introducing Afterimage, a trans hero who must deal with a conflict with a transphobic bully. This chapter, along with a selection of short stories from the Emergents Presents series, will be featured in the special Pride issue. InterPop is passionate about not only representation in the LGBTQIA+ community through its characters, but also about giving back to the community through The Trevor Project.

“The tales of these specific characters stand alongside glimpses of our larger LGBTQIA+ cast, demonstrating that representation is perhaps one of the greatest powers of all. We celebrate their ability to live their lives and truth freely, openly, and without shame or fear. Sometimes that goal still seems imaginary when it comes to our own timeline. But the dream of a better world has sustained Culverton’s heroes so far. Such a dream remains worth the struggle.”

Heroes and villains alike find their home in Culverton, birthplace of the Emergents: a fire-wielding professor, guardians made of stone, practitioners of arcane arts, geniuses who bend machines to their will, and mischievous speedsters. Superpowered humans fight or commit crimes, alongside their civilian neighbors. Generations clash, unique powers are revealed, and devious plots come to light. It may look like a normal, tightly knit community, but be careful pulling on loose threads when you visit Culverton—you never know what secrets you might be unraveling.

Featuring the previously published stories Ground Zeroth, Pacifist, The Best Revenge, Street Hassle, and Opening Night, InterPop’s Emergents Presents: Pride features a stunning cover by Lynne Yoshii, and nearly 60 pages of comics from writers Ted Naifeh, Eric Anthony Glover, Alex Segura, and Marc Andreyko, and art from Colleen Doran, Ted Naifeh, Adrián Gutiérrez, and Lucas Meyer, with additional colors from Wil Quintana and Alex Sinclair. Characters featured in the issue include trans superhero Afterimage, the enigmatic engineer Zeroth, tech tycoon Sunder, fire sculptor Beacon, and Drama Club rockstar Cornerstone. The issue will also feature profiles of the other queer characters from the Emergents community, including ZoeMG (who has her own series), The Conservator, Torrent, Ixnay, Quickhit, and Johnny Tinker. Emergents Presents: Pride will be on sale digitally on June 22nd via interpopcomics.com.
