Comixology Head of Content Chip Mosher to step down

ComiXology faces more unrest as Head of Content Chip Mosher steps down.

It has been a rough year for ComXilogy, to say the least, and today their Head of Content Chip Mosher has announced via Twitter he’ll be stepping down. Mosher made it clear this will be his last week at ComiXology.

With the company for over 11 years, Mosher personally assisted in curating new creative teams and titles for the ComiXology Originals line of comics. ComiXology has announced Bryce Gold will takeover and Lead the Comixology Originals program.

Mosher Tweeted:

“After 11 years, I’ve decided it’s time for a change and this will be my last week at
@comixology. It’s been an amazing decade+ for me & I’m grateful to have been able to be part of the company’s growth. In particular, it’s been an honor pioneering the Comixology Originals program. Just too many people to thank. So thanks to you all! More soon!”

You can hear Mosher’s thoughts on ComiXology and the creative process of being Head of Content on the AIPT Comics podcast interview from May 2020.

ComiXology recently moved from comixology.com to Amazon.com, which saw many UI issues for customers including losing access to entire libraries and being able to easily download new titles. ComiXology has attempted to make some fixes, but it may be too little too late.

This disruption in management has been going on for some time. ComiXology co-founder/CEO David Steinberger also stepped down from ComiXology in March. In fact, Steinberger has left Amazon.com as is noted in his June 20th tweet.

Given this new news, with a glass half full mentality, this could mean a new direction for the ComiXology Originals program. As ComiXology also tweeted, new titles and information is coming soon at SDCC.

It remains to be seen what effect this will have on ComiXology going forward, but what do you think readers? Is this another bad sign ComiXology will continue to decline or a hopeful moment? Let us know in the comments.
