HBO releases full trailer for ‘House of the Dragon’

The Targaryen Civil War is nearly upon us.

On Wednesday, HBO released the first full trailer for its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. Unlike the brief teaser we got back in May, this preview provides a much better look at the strife leading up to a Targaryen civil war (aka Dance of the Dragons).

As you can see, things are about to go down in Westeros 200 years before the events that take place in Game of Thrones (or the A Song of Fire and Ice series for the book fans).

Like most folks, I was all types of disappointed by Game of Thrones’ ending — so much so that I’d convinced myself not to be terribly excited for the House of the Dragon. After this trailer, however, it’ll be hard to prevent my personal hype train from leaving the station. In addition to all those beautiful dragons, it appears we have plenty of delicious political infighting and brutal sword and shield combat to look forward to.

The first episode of House of the Dragon will premiere Sunday, August 21 at 9:00 PM EST on HBO. The first season will consist of ten episodes.
