The summer of gaming is in full swing! The year started off fantastically, with major releases like Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Horizon Forbidden West to Elden Ring all releasing in early 2022, and that fantastic trend looks to continue through the summer months with bombastic Triple A games and indie darlings releasing left and right.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Cult of the Lamb (8/11)
Cult of the Lamb is like a grisly-yet-cuddly playable cartoon. You’ll play as a possessed lamb who attempts to appease the gods via less-than-pleasant ways, like dark cult rituals. It combines roguelike action with village-building, meaning you’ll get to bond with your followers before sacrificing them to The One Who Waits. Four Bishop Bosses will oppose your lamb on its journey to expand its cult and become the one true cult. Praise the lamb!
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (8/12)
Perhaps the greatest superhero game ever releases on PC on Friday. Marvel’s Spider-Man joins Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and Death Stranding as formerly PlayStation exclusives to release for PC. The remastered version of 2018’s smash hit features upgraded PC visuals, ultra-wide monitor support, haptic feedback and dynamic triggers via a DualSense controller, and ray-traced reflections. The game will also include The City that Never Sleeps DLC and costumes. Pre-ordering offers players 5 skill points out of the gates and early unlocks some of the game’s costumes, including my personal favorite, the Iron Spider suit.
