Hulu’s Hellraiser reboot receives R rating from MPA

I don’t think anyone at all familiar with the previous films will be shocked to hear the reasoning.

The original Hellraiser film was released in 1987. While it may not have made huge waves at the time of its release, it’s become a cult classic in the following years and has spawned a litany of direct-to-video sequels.

Loyal fans of this wild and creative horror franchise will be glad to know that they are in store for yet another installment by Hulu. Unsurprisingly, the film has just received the same rating all the other films in the series have received.

The MPA has slapped this new film with an R rating. The reasoning they provided for this rating is as follows: “strong bloody horror violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual content, and brief graphic nudity.”

I don’t think anyone at all familiar with the previous films will be shocked to hear that reasoning.

Interestingly enough, the original ’87 film had initial struggles when it came to the MPA. They were going to give the film an X rating until director Clive Barker made some cuts here and there to secure an R rating.

Hulu has not yet announced exactly when this new Hellraiser film is to be released.

Dedicated fans will just have to be patient and wait for now.
