The 2022 Emmys showed Netflix isn’t dead yet

A strong showing by Netflix at the 2022 Emmys proved the beleaguered streaming service still has some juice.

For the third year in a row, genre television continued to have an outsized impact on the Emmys. It wasn’t quite as good as the previous year’s haul (thanks in no small part to White Lotus), but there were plenty of awards to go around.

Squid Game was definitive genre winner of the evening, pulling down six awards. Both Lee Jung-jae and Lee You-mi nabbed Best Lead Actor and Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series respectively. Combine that with Stranger Things (five Emmys), Arcane (four Emmys), and Love, Death, & Robots (two Emmys), and maybe Netflix isn’t on death’s door after all.
