Our Channel Surfing TV picks for this week include comedy, superheroes, and animated fantasy. Check out the comedic hardships of running a home video rental place during these modern times in Blockbuster. Find what’s next for a young team of heroes who fight evil in Titans. Then, can elves and humans keep the peace in a new season of The Dragon Prince.

The Last of a Dying Breed

Back in the day, a method people used to watch films within the privacy of their own home was to rent videos. One company that revolutionized the industry was Blockbuster Video, who became a powerhouse with stores all over the United States as well as other international markets. However, the rise of Netflix and digital content would result in its downfall.

Blockbuster is a comedy that is set in the last store of the one-time influential franchise. It is a workplace comedy, and will explore what it takes to run a successful small business in this day and age. Randall Park, Melissa Fumero, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, and Olga Merediz star.

Binge the entire first season of Blockbuster beginning Thursday, November 3, on Netflix.

Prepare for Bloody Mayhem

Previously, the Titans went to Gotham where they went head-to-head with Dr. Jonathan Crane and former member, Jason Todd as Red Hood. After saving the city from the diabolical plot, the team is ready to head back to San Francisco.

In the upcoming season, the group takes a detour to Metropolis so that Konnor can meet his dad though it might not be the one he’s expecting. They all soon find themselves on the radar of a supernatural cult who are a threat they’ve never encountered before. The main villains will be Brother Blood and Mother Mayhem.

The first two episodes of Titans season four will be released Thursday, November 3, on HBO Max.

Ushering in a New Age

When we last left The Dragon Prince, a united front of humans, elves, and dragons foil Viren’s attempt to destroy Xadia. Under the leadership of King Ezran, the trust between humans and elves is reestablished and friendship reemerges. However, their enemies aren’t completely vanquished with Viren resurrected and his partner behind the scenes, Aaravos, transforming into a new form.

We jump in time a few years in the new season with Ezran continuing to maintain the peace between the different sides. Callum is heartbroken that Rayla left him, but they will be reunited. Then of course, Viren and his daughter, Claudia, are still out there but the former advisor to the king must act fast since he has only a limited time in the land of the living.

The season four premiere of The Dragon Prince is Thursday, November 3, on Netflix.
