ONE:12 COLLECTIVE – Theodore Sodcutter – Deluxe Edition review

Theodore Sodcutter of Gangreene Estates is a great addition to anyone’s ghoulish Halloween action figure collection.

Mezco Toyz is known for its One:12 Collective action figures, many of which are in the Marvel and DC Comics lines, but they also make fabulous original creations too. That includes the recently shipped Theodore Sodcutter, a deluxe edition figure with light effects, tons of accessories, and even its own comic book! With the action figure on hand, the question is does it meet expectations at a $120 price point?

Theodore Sodcutter is, without a doubt, a very cool figure. It comes with 20 points of articulation with long limbs that wouldn’t necessarily require a lot of posing, but the option is there.

The coolest aspect of this figure is the lighting, which comes in a nifty attachment that goes in each head and acts as the joint that plugs the head into the body. Another light includes his lantern and both super tiny light mechanisms come with the incredibly tiny batteries required to operate both. Sporting six different heads–most of which utilize the light function–there are a lot of ghoulish and creepy looks in this action figure.

A Halloween crypt-keeper-style action figure, his clothing is actually quite festive for Christmas time, given Scrooge sported the same sort of clothes. He comes with two plastic top hats, a bowler hat, a cloth scarf, a button-down shirt made of suede material (held down by Velcro), and cloth pants. The stitching on all the clothes is exceptional and well-made. The hats are hard plastic, and while they don’t fit super snuggly on every head, they balance nicely.

Accessories for this figure are incredible. From the fine details in each head to the fine details in the head, Theodore can carry by the hair. The decapitated head glows in the dark, and the hair is a separate piece that acts as a handle for Theodore to hold sticks into the head nicely. The head also fits into the well-made bag, which actually clasps. Theodore also has a nifty tombstone that can be hoisted onto his back with some realistic rope. Customary of all One:12 figures, there’s a base with a display post to hold up the action figure.

That’s not all, as the action figure comes with his own comic. Stylized like old EC comics or Tales from the Crypt, the comic even comes with macabre ads for things that don’t actually exist but do supply some nostalgic vibes. Throw in 14 different hand options, and you have a thoroughly made action figure.
