Why The Beyonder needs to be in ‘Secret Wars’

The biggest threat yet?

We all know that Kang is set to be the next big Marvel baddie for the next 3-4 years in the MCU, but there is another entity that has yet to rear his head in the universe and that guy is the Beyonder. The Marvel character first appeared in Secret Wars #1 in 1984 and he was characterized as the sum total of the entire universe. Judging by his smug character and devious nature, he seems to be the reason behind all of the fighting in the MCU – or he, very well, could be the reason. In a comic, he was recently charged with abducting a litany of heroes and villains and making them fight, almost for his own amusement.

Regardless of what his motivations prove to be, he is a character with way too much untapped potential to not be utilized in the MCU. The Beyonder’s name, alone, could command a legion of fans to come in droves in the movie theaters and it could make for an amazing origin story, if the filmmakers decided to go deeper than just a small cameo.

His arrival on the scene would need to either be something of true terror, or something so innocuous that it makes the audience gasp with anticipation. What would make this characters’ presence truly amazing would be the fact that the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Eternals and Thunderbolts would go up against the villain. Somewhere down the road, that seems like the path that Marvel will eventually take, when handling this comic-book character. If that doesn’t get fans excited, I don’t know what will.

The question now is who will play this mysterious being? Many people will likely opt to say Keanu Reeves and he would certainly make a good choice. Reeves portrays characters with such remote awe that it makes one wonder who he is, even if many of his films were not as great as The Matrix–ahem John Wick. One could also possibly see Johnny Depp playing the Marvel titan as he sports a sheet of jet black hair and a clean-cut and well-mannered persona underneath his cruel nature, like when Depp played Sweeney Todd

I would be more than happy to see this character on screen and I’m convinced that Marvel already has a plan for him in the next Avengers films. I certainly have my fingers crossed.
