On Friday, Hasbro revealed a long-awaited figure in the Marvel Legends line. Although we’ve gotten Luke Cage before, this is the first time Hasbro has released him in his classic Power Man look.
As you can see, the only promotional photo revealed thus far is a digital render. That said, the figure looks great. Aside from the elbows, the sculpt is superb. And while I’m not ready to trust a render on how the paint will turn out, following this plan should produce beautiful results.
Unfortunately, Power Man suffers from the lack of accessories that’s plagued the Marvel Legends line of late. I realize Luke Cage isn’t a character who’s going to come with weapons, but an alternate head would’ve been nice. It’s also a shame that his chain belt and gauntlets appear so dull instead of shiny.
Those gripes aside, however, this is by far the best comic version of Luke Cage we’ve gotten from Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line. You may be tempted to let nostalgia convince you the ToyBiz version was better, but it’s really not. It will also be nice to get a good Luke Cage figure that isn’t part of a multi-pack.
No preorder or pricing info has been revealed yet, but it should be soon. Let’s hope this one doesn’t end up being an exclusive.
