Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five, where we give props to the very best comics of the past week! This week had representation from DC, Marvel, and from Image Comics. Let’s get right to the comics:
#5: Tim Drake: Robin #7
It’s always daunting to drive the focus away from the titular character, but Meghan Fitzmartin is more than up to the task and along with the dazzling art from Serg Acuña, Tim Drake: Robin #7 is another strong entry. This series is ending with issue #10, but it seems determined to go out on top. Readers can rest assured that questions will be answered about Bernard’s personal life while keeping the momentum strong. Overall, this issue is as strong as every other, if not more so, as it delves into the personal and human aspects of the characters.

#4: Clobberin’ Time #1
Clobberin’ Time #1 is a good start to a series that leans into the adventures of Ben Grimm and looks great doing it. There’s the promise of an ongoing mystery to uncover that perfectly sets up a team-up series that’ll be an easy one to add to the pile. Pick up Clobberin’ Time knowing it exudes old-fashioned charm.

#3: Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain #2
Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain #2 is a quick, punchy issue, one disinterested in being bogged down by exposition in favor of subtly deepening its own mythology. In doing so, it continues to establish a foothold unique amongst its X-Peers, and among the continuing ever-presence of multiverse content.

#2: Harley Quinn #28
Harley Quinn #28 is an entertaining case study in Relativism. Tini Howard’s expert script work is on full display throughout the issue. Her ability to subtly weave this philosophical doctrine as a theme throughout the narrative is exceptional and her humor is spot-on for the title character. Additionally, the script is bolstered by Sweeny Boo’s vibrant, kinetic, and playful artwork. There’s one thing Harley Quinn #28 makes absolutely clear: this duo is the perfect team for this book.

#1: Indigo Children #1
Indigo Children #1 delivers a tightly plotted, starkly illustrated sci-fi thriller that raises just as many questions as it answers. Is Alexei a savior or a tyrant? Is he the next stage of evolution, or a force from beyond the stars? Whatever the answers, I look forward to where future issues take us.
