Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 07/24/2023

Our Channel Surfing TV picks highlights the great series of this week.

There is plenty of great series this week and our Channel Surfing TV picks highlights a few of them. It’s a race to save Xadia in the new season of The Dragon Prince. Angel and Demon must team up again in the second season of Good Omens. Then, discover what’s next for the Duffy Wrestling League in an all-new season of Heels.

Unleashing a Monster

Though technically the new episodes The Dragon Prince released over the weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, we’re including it here because the original season five premiere was supposed to be this week. When we last left the series, dark mage Claudia, her boyfriend the Earthblood elf Terry, and her father set out to free the series big bad, Aaravos, a Startouch Elf. Meanwhile, our heroes Ezran, Callum, and Rayla are racing after them to prevent the release of the notorious villain.

In the new season, we’ll travel to the vast oceans surrounding the continent of Xadia and encounter the different people and species that inhabit them. In addition, Ezran must rally allies, both new and old, to aid him in his quest while Claudia and company inch closer and closer to Aaravos.

Watch the entire fifth season of The Dragon Prince now on Netflix.

A Bad Case of Amnesia

Good Omens was originally conceived as a mini-series since there was only one book of the source material and co-author, Terry Pratchett, had already passed away before the debut of the television show. However, Neil Gaiman always talked about how he and his collaborator had extensively discussed future plans.

In comes Good Omens season two, which is a completely new story. From the trailer, it appears the angel Gabriel has lost his memory and our unlikely duo of the demon Crowley and the angelic Aziraphale decide to keep the Archangel hidden until they can get to the bottom of things. Even if it could cause a war between heaven and hell.

The entire season two of Good Omens drops Friday, July 28, on Prime Video.

A Shot at Redemption

Professional wrestling is in Jack Spade’s blood. He spends the majority of his time planning the present and future of the Duffy Wrestling League, and this causes friction not only with his wife and son, but also his brother who is a pro wrestler as well.

In the new season, Jack is in a dark place but trying to become a better man. Can he find redemption in the eyes of his family or will all the drama of the DWL cause him to lose focus. The wrestling promotion needs to build up its new champion while also fighting back aggressive advances from its chief rival, Florida Wrestling Dystopia.

The season two premiere of Heels airs Friday, July 28, on Starz.
