The biggest new video games releasing the week of 12/11/23

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Winter is on the horizon and it promises potential Game of the Year contenders to release week after week. Sandwiched between them are plenty of indie games to ensure it’ll be impossible for you to not find exciting video games to play and fall in love with.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla (12/12)

Platforms: PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5

Revealed at The Game Awards last week, God of War Ragnarök is receiving DLC — for free! And it arrives tomorrow! The Valhalla update adds a roguelite mode to one of 2022’s best games, focusing on the game’s combat. Serving as Ragnarök‘s epilogue, Valhalla will find Kratos on a “deeply personal and reflective journey” where he’ll “overcome trials within himself and face echoes of his past.” By smashing draugrs in the face, no doubt.

Trinity Fusion (12/15)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Trinity Fusion combines two of the more popular, growing genres as of late — metroidvanias and roguelites. It’ll have you traveling across multiple realities to save the multiverse from collapsing. It combines procedurally generated maps with hand-crafted levels to test your skills at its high-flying combat.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk (12/14)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

If The Teal Mask was just an appetizer, The Indigo Disk promises to be a five-course meal. The second part of the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC launches Thursday, bringing an actual post-game to Gen IX. Your trainer will take a trip to Blueberry Academy, where you’ll *takes a deep breath* capture past generation starters, seek out legendaries, trade with Paldea’s Elite Four, battle a new Elite Four, finally be able to fly with Miraidon/Koraidon, and… mind control your Pokémon? You’ll also encounter new Pokémon Terapagos and possibly learn more about the terastallization phenomenon in Paldea.
