A year and a half after its reveal, Amy Hennig’s Marvel game finally has a title and release window. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is set to launch sometime in 2025 for (presumably) PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Hennig took the stage at the State of Unreal 2024 presentation today to showcase Marvel 1943. The presentation took a deep dive into the technical aspects of Rise of Hydra and just how stunning it looks with the power of the Unreal Engine 5. Everything show was pulled straight from the game in-engine — Rise of Hydra will look just as good when it launches as it does in today’s real-time cinematics.
The story trailer introduces the main heroes, who of course come to blows upon meeting (as superheroes do). The trailer doesn’t give too much of the plot away; we know there’s a third super soldier in Paris and Cap ain’t too happy about that. We also get to meet the other two playable characters, Howling Commando Gabriel Jones, and Nanali, leader of the Wakandan Spy Network. Amy Hennig is known for her work at Naughty Dog on the first three Uncharted games, so I imagine we can expect Uncharted-like jaw-dropping cinematic moments in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
Marvel fans are in a golden era for video games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was one of 2023’s best games, and fans are eagerly anticipating Insomniac’s Wolverine. While you wait for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, you can check out the trailer and presentation below.
