New video games worth playing for the week of 3/25/24

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Spring has sprung, and with it promises indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best releases, but it’s off to a strong start so far.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Open Roads (3/28)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Starring actors Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever, Open Roads is a narrative-focused game that blends visual novel-like cutscenes and first-person exploration. Russell and Dever take on the roles of a single mother and her teenage daughter venturing on a road trip to explore abandoned family properties. Along the way they’ll uncover secrets and memories from their family’s past and get to know each other like never before.

South Park: Snow Day (3/26)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S

South Park goes three dimensional with Snow Day. Instead of being a turn-based RPG like The Stick of Truth and The Fractured but WholeSouth Park: Snow Day is an action-adventure game that can be be played solo with bot allies or with up to three friends.  As The New Kid, you’ll team up with Cartman, Stan, Kenny, and Kyle to save the town from an endless blizzard — and beat up rival factions along the way.

Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist (3/25)

Platform: PC

Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist launches into early access today on Steam, with console version planned when the full game launches at a later date. A sequel to Ender Lilies: Quietus of the KnightsEnder Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist picks up decades after the first game. Ravenous homunculi roam the lands, and it’s up to you, as attuner Lilac, to bring them salvation. The early access version of Ender Magnolia will feature the first four areas of the game, with each area having unique enemies, bosses, and NPC allies.

Also worth checking out: One Last Breath, Distant Bloom, and Pepper Grinder.
