#5: X-Men ’97 #2

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of April 10, 2024

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

We’re two issues in, and I already wish this four-issue series was ongoing. Foxe nails each character, and Salva is the perfect artist to bring out the animated show’s charm in comic book format. Accept no substitutions. X-Men ’97 is the real deal and a perfect complement to the animated series.

#4: Green Lantern #10

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of April 10, 2024

When Jeremy Adams, Xermanico, Kevin Maguire, and the Green Lantern Corps are together, you know you’re getting an excellent issue of entertainment. Watching Hal, Jo, and the Resistance Corps stealthily move around enemy territory forces the heroes to be more than just their rings against the corrupt United Planets as the Emotional Spectrum and Source Energy mystery looms in the background. Seeing Guy get in the ring to bring in Lobo sets up a comedic adventure that dives into the absurdity of the DCU.

#3: The Bat-Man: First Knight #2

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of April 10, 2024

The Bat-Man: First Knight #2 is another strong story in a riveting miniseries. With an unexpected ending, this issue perfectly sets up a thrilling ending by putting many of the remaining pieces in place for the final showdown. It’s clear Bat-Man will have to make a choice to decide what kind of history he’ll make and be remembered for.

#2: Suicide Squad: Dream Team #2

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of April 10, 2024

Do yourself a favor and pick up this issue (and last issue if you missed it). This story and team are a blast and there’s a lot more action to come. This is the best the Suicide Squad has been in ages. A great and fun read that will have you waiting impatiently for the next issue.

#1: Resurrection of Magneto #4

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of April 10, 2024

In the Grand Finale of Krakoa, Resurrection of Magneto #4 is a can’t-miss finish to a superb series. Rich storytelling is matched with artists at the top of their game to answer the question of who the Master of Magnetism has become in his return to the land of the living. It’s the kind of comic that’s great from start to finish and is more rewarding with each reappraisal–go get it now!
