Summer is in full swing, and what better way to beat the heat than staying inside and enjoying indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week? This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best video games, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Dredge: The Iron Rig (8/15)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
Dredge receives its second expansion with The Iron Rig DLC. It’ll include a new constructible town for players to explore during its two-to-five hours of content, which can be completed at any time during the game. You’ll uncover more ancient disturbances, catch more than 50 new fish, craft new equipment, and make your boat hull bigger and better.
Farewell North (8/16)
Platforms: PC, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S
You’ve enjoyed great cat games, so it’s only natural that next up on your wishlist is a beautiful dog game. Farewell North has you playing as a border collie out to restore color to its human’s world — vibrant and hand-crafted islands inspired by the Scottish Highlands. You’ll help a young woman recover her memories and discover why all the color has left the world.
Madden NFL 25 (8/16)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
Fresh off its successful College Football 25, EA drops a new Madden this week. Madden NFL 25, featuring San Francisco RB Christian McCaffrey as its cover athlete, promises to be best entry yet…but they say that every year. The new hook for Madden 25 is its physics-based tackling system BOOM Tech, which looks to make hits more varied and realistic during gameplay by utilizing factors like player momentum, size, and strength. Barebones franchise mode and gambling simulator Madden Ultimate Team headline the game’s game modes.
