James Tynion IV’s Tiny Onion Substack revealed today a new partnership with Inklore. The twelve-book deal, comprising three original graphic novel series, will kick off with Inklore, an imprint of Random House Worlds at The Random House Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House. Penguin has been making moves in the industry as early as this year, acquiring BOOM! Studios in July.
Rebecca Taylor, Editorial Director at Inklore, and Kate McHale, Senior Commissioning Editor at Inklore UK, acquired the world rights.
“I could not be more excited to be teaming up with James and the Tiny Onion team,” said Rebecca “Tay” Taylor, Editorial Director at Inklore. “James’ characters and their relationships to each other always drive his stories, no matter the genre. I cannot wait for Inklore readers to lose themselves in the heartbreak, propulsion, and joy of what Tiny Onion has in store for them.”
Tynion said he met with Taylor about a year ago at NYCC laying out their plans and planned to work together from there. “I had a great meeting with Tay and the team behind Random House Worlds shortly thereafter, and I remember asking how aggressive I could be in proposing what we’d be building together. Tay and the PRH team told me to be as aggressive as I wanted to be… which is always a dangerous thing to say to me. I brought them three series that I’ve been cooking in the background for years.”
Tynion went on to say the books they’re planning are titles his readers will love. Graphic novels that he’ll, “be able to hit the high notes of soap opera, through a lens that feels uniquely in my lane, with a bunch of incredible creators working at my side.”
So what’s The Most Beautiful People Who Never Loved Me about?
Follows a magician whose revolutionary performances bring him great professional success at a significant personal cost, with the first of three volumes of the series scheduled for release in 2028.
Tynion went on to say it’ll be a few years before we hear more about this graphic novel.
