Holiday shopping season is in full swing with just a couple weeks left until Christmas, and what better gift is there to give than a brand new game? This year has brough us plenty of indie darlings and Triple A hits week after week with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind (12/10)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
Another nostalgic show gets the retro beat ’em up experience in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. It looks just as a gorgeous and fun as last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge with its pixel art and side-scrolling fighting. You and your friends will don the classic Power Ranger uniforms and battle Rita and Robo Rita, a cyborg reincarnation of the iconic villain, on a time-travelling adventure.
The Spirit of the Samurai (12/12)
Platform: PC
We’re in something of a burgeoning golden age for samurai games, from big-budget open world adventures like Ghost of Tsushima and indie faves like Trek to Yomi. The Spirit of the Samurai looks to be the next samurai game hit. You’ll play as a samurai — and also a cat and Kodama! — protecting his village from an army of Oni. It’s a side-scrolling action adventure with a unique stop-motion aesthetic.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (12/9)
Platforms: PC and Xbox Series X/S
While Harrison Ford has potentially worn the hat for the final time, that doesn’t mean Indy is done. The archeologist stars in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle from modern Wolfenstein developer MahcineGames, out today for everyone after a three-day early access period for Premium and Collector edition owners. It once again follows Jones on a globe-trotting (and PC-melting) adventure in search of an ancient power as he tries to prevent it from falling into evil hands. Gameplay will combine stealth, third-person shooting, and melee combat. Great Circle has reviewed well so far, maintaining an 87 on Metacritic, and PlayStation 5 owners won’t have to wait long to enjoy it as it’ll arrive on PS5 next spring.
